I worked with a professional restoration shop run by Bill Mayberry to bring this fire truck into exquisite restoration shape. I made all new beds, and wooden boxes of all shapes and sizes needed to complete this full-on restoration.
The Rolls was brought to me with door framing that had rotted out from age and a leaky roof.
The project required making all new door framing that ensured proper fit and finish of the metal door skins and inner upholstery, and made certain that locks and window mechanisms fit and worked correctly.
This is a Morgan body frame I made in the early eighties for Robert Couch in Millerton NY.. The frame is made of ash with relatively little sheet metal covering it.
This picture of the back of the Morgan frame shows that a body framed of wood with a metal skin holding it together can be quite strong.
This photo shows the rear wheel well area made out of two apposing laminated slabs of wood that gives more strength than a single direction lamination to complete this shape.
This picture silhouettes the complete Morgan frame in all it's bare bones show its beauty as all the lines come together
This is a 1890 or so Benz I worked on for race car illustrator, John Peckum. I made and installed new raised panels for the engine compartment, new floor and new seat. This car is an amazing example of the horseless carriage transition.
